ETS quietens Gleneagles Hotel sub-station

Press Release Jan 2004 (Photo's)

The first ever, natural looking willow sound barrier in the UK has been installed at the prestigious Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, preserving the natural beauty of the Hotel's surroundings whilst reducing the intrusive noise and the visual impact of the Hotel's electricity sub station in an instant.  Created and installed by ETS ltd, the Green Barrier in woven willow is the perfect solution for screening [an obstacle] and reducing noise from sub-stations, factories and other unsightly or noisy objects.

George Graham, Development Director of The Gleneagles complex said: " We are delighted with the ETS Green Barrier, the natural look and unobtrusiveness of the structure is exactly what we were looking for.  At Gleneagles resort, the smallest details in the service, combined with a relaxing and natural environment create a quality experience that keeps our guests coming back."

The Green Barrier is available in either woven or living willow, specially selected varieties of willow grown for their longevity and attractive coloured stems allow the creation of a unique stockade available in a range of heights suitable for most ground conditions and locations. The environmentally sustainable Green barrier rapidly becomes home to birds, insects and butterflies and if it is living it changes with the seasons.

The RockDelta® soundproof core is tested to international standards, and reduces noise levels considerably.   The external structure covering the soundproof core is made from woven willow.  It is environmentally friendly, blends well with the natural landscape and provides an attractive acoustic and visual screen.

When asked why the Green Barrier was different from other products on the market Dr Adrian Bowles of ETS said ”concrete, metal and sawn timber barriers do not look natural and they are very often second rate solutions to noise mitigation, often being largely reflective.  For anyone wanting to erect a noise barrier with a natural appearance, with the highest noise attenuation properties, there is just nothing else on the market to match it.  Existing products either don’t perform as well, or look unsightly, they are just not as good”
