• What is the Green Barrier™?
  • The Green Barrier™ is manufactured from sustainably grown willow to form a living willow hedge. Alternatively, if conditions will not allow a hedge, it can be woven into a sturdy willow screen. The Green Barrier™ gives the specifier an effective, aesthetically pleasing and natural solution to most residential and commercial fencing requirements. When combined with an absorptive acoustic core to form an acoustic screen, it offers market leading noise abatement.

• How is the Green Barrier™ made?
  • The Green Barrier™ in living willow is made from 2 to 3 year old hand selected willow rods held firmly together within a wooden frame. The rods are cut to allow a planting depth of 60cm. Once planted the frames are screwed together creating a dense, effective screening hedge. The planting season for the Green Barrier™ in living willow is late December until May.
  • The Green Barrier™ in woven willow is also made from hand selected rods. However, in this case the rods have been allowed to dry naturally. The dried rods are then woven into a hardwood and steel frame, to produce a rigid willow screen. Attractive in its own right the Green Barrier™ in woven willow can also be used as support for a variety of climbing plants and evergreens.
  • The Acoustic Green Barrier™ is an absorptive acoustic barrier. It is formed when a high performance acoustic core is introduced between an inner and outer screen. The Acoustic Green Barrier™ is available in either living or woven willow.
  • The Acoustic Green Barrier™ is an absorptive barrier and as such helps to reduce the level of noise pollution in the environment.

• What are the Green Barrier™ specifications?
  • The Green Barrier™ in living willow is manufactured in pre-fabricated sections 1100mm wide available in heights from 1.0m to 2.5m maximum.
  • The Green Barrier™ in living willow is planted in the late winter through spring.
  • The Green Barrier™ in woven willow is manufactured in panels 2500mm wide and available in heights from 1.0m to 3.0m maximum. Post are manufactured in sustainably grown Acacia. Joins between panels, at junctions and ends are covered with timber facing strips.
  • The Acoustic Green Barrier™ core is 120mm thick.
  • The Acoustic Green Barrier™ Noise Absorption performance according to CEN standard, EN 1793-1 belongs in the highest category A4 (Dlα>9dB(A)).
  • The Acoustic Green Barrier™ Noise Insulation performance according to CEN standard, EN 1793-2 is in the highest reduction category B3 (DlR>22dB(A)). Tests on the acoustic core give an overall sound reduction index Rw  26db.
  • The acoustic core has a performance life guarantee of 25 + years.
